1National Central University

National Central University was founded in 1915. The school was initially located in Miaoli when it first moved to Taiwan, but relocated to Zhongli in 1968 and developed into a comprehensive university.

National Cheng Kung University is a public research university located in Tainan, Taiwan. The university is best known for engineering, computer science, medicine, and planning and design.

3National Chengchi University

National Chengchi University is a Taiwan-based national research university. The university is also considered the earliest public service training facility of the Republic of China. First established in Nanjing in 1927, the university was subsequently relocated to Taipei in 1954.

16National Tsing Hua University

National Tsing Hua University is a research university in Hsinchu City, Taiwan. The university was first founded in Beijing. After the Kuomintang retreated to Taiwan in 1949 following its defeat by the Communist Party of China in the Chinese Civil War, NTHU was re-established in Hsinchu City in 1956.

Open Universities

47National Open University

National Open University is an open university in Luzhou District, New Taipei, Taiwan. National Open University was established on 1 August 1986. The opening ceremony and first-year courses started in November 1986. Although the university originally had entrance examinations, they were later abolished in 1997. Classes were originally conducted over a dedicated radio station, and television channels and internet classrooms were later added. Today, the university is a full-service, distance learning university fully accredited by the Taiwanese government, and has an annual enrollment of 35,000 students.
